The health of the inner terrain—our bodies—is a direct reflection of the health of our outer terrain—the natural world around us. Soil, water, air, plants, trees, and rocks become part of our bodies. What humans do influence the health and wellbeing of the natural world, and in turn, influence our own health and wellbeing.
The Terrain Institute is exploring this critical alliance from both a practical and research perspective. Our work is to study and explore these connections in many ways: through how we grow, prepare and eat food, nourish soil, interact with wildlife, use botanical medicine, employ indigenous knowledge, heal our bodies, feed our souls, and become active in our communities to protect green space and wilderness.
